Prime Minister Modi Engages with Students on Parakram Diwas

On the occasion of Parakram Diwas, commemorating the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a heartwarming interaction with students in the Central Hall of Parliament, New Delhi. This day holds great significance as we honor one of India’s greatest freedom fighters, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, who was born in Cuttack, Odisha.

During the interaction, the Prime Minister posed a thought-provoking question to the students: "What is the nation’s goal by 2047?" A confident student promptly responded, “To make India a Developed Nation (Viksit Bharat).” Building on this, another student remarked that 2047 is significant because it marks the centenary of India’s independence, and by then, the current generation would be ready to contribute to the nation’s progress.

The Prime Minister then steered the discussion toward the importance of the day. The students acknowledged that it was the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, a leader who exemplified courage and patriotism. When asked which of Netaji’s sayings inspired them the most, one student quoted, “Give me blood, and I promise you freedom.” She elaborated on how Netaji's leadership and selflessness inspire young Indians to prioritize their country above all else.

The conversation then turned to actions derived from such inspiration. The student shared her resolve to reduce India’s carbon footprint, aligning with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). When asked about initiatives in India to achieve this, she highlighted the increasing adoption of electric vehicles and buses. The Prime Minister expanded on this, noting that over 1,200 electric buses supported by the Union Government are currently operational in Delhi, with plans to introduce more.

PM Suryagarh Yojana: A Step Towards Sustainability

Prime Minister Modi took the opportunity to educate students about the PM Suryagarh Yojana, an initiative aimed at combating climate change. He explained that under this scheme, solar panels can be installed on residential rooftops, enabling households to generate their own electricity. This not only eliminates electricity bills but also provides a means to charge electric vehicles, reducing dependence on fossil fuels and curbing pollution.

He further highlighted an innovative feature of the scheme: households generating surplus electricity can sell it back to the government for monetary compensation. This initiative not only promotes the use of renewable energy but also offers an opportunity for individuals to earn profits while contributing to a greener planet.

This interactive session reflected Prime Minister Modi’s commitment to engaging with India’s youth, inspiring them to take charge of the nation’s future while honoring the legacy of leaders like Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. It’s a reminder that the path to a sustainable and developed India begins with each individual’s dedication and innovation.
